Belle Floyd, 87
Mrs. Maybelle Maddox "Belle" Floyd, 87, of Bardstown, died Sunday, July 4, 2010 at Baptist Hospital East in Louisville.
History: Mrs. Floyd was born August 19, 1922 in Washington, D.C. She came to Kentucky in 1945 with her husband, as secretary to the President of Centre College. They moved to Bardstown in 1949 where she worked as secretary at the Bardstown Baptist Church. She worshipped in that congregation for the rest of her life. Mrs. Floyd worked for the Bardstown Independent School system for 32 years as secretary to the superintendent and Secretary and Treasurer to the Board of Education. She served as chairman of the Nelson County Republican Party at the time of the election of Governor Louie Nunn, and maintained a sincere interest in politics until the time of her passing. Belle Floyd touched many lives personally and professionally. She was loved and loving, and her counsel and affection will be greatly missed.
Preceded in death by: Her husband: Richard Paul Floyd; 2 daughters: Caroline Lee Floyd and Melinda Ruth Floyd; her parents: William Lee and Maybelle Touart Maddox; and 1 brother: Colonel Billy Maddox.
Survived By: 4 sons: Richard (Barbara) Floyd, James Floyd, David (Cheri) Floyd, and Matthew (Debi) Floyd, all of Bardstown; 7 grandchildren: Jason, Jeff, Becky, Melinda, Beth, Nick, and Spencer; 8 great-grandchildren; 1 sister: Ellen Lee (Jack) Sherwood of Leesburg, Virginia, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Place: at the Bardstown Baptist Church
Burial: Bardstown Cemetery
Visitation will be held…
Date and Time: Wednesday, July 7, 2010 from 2:00 pm to 8:00 pm. There will be no visitation at the funeral home the morning of the funeral service.
