Woodrow Francis "Woody" Downs, 45, of Bardstown, died Thursday, June 17, 2010 at his residence.

History: Woody was born June 17, 1965 in Kingston, New York. He was a 1983 graduate of Bardstown High School where he was an All-State football player. He was a magna cum laude graduate of the Whitney Young Leadership College of Kentucky State University in Frankfort and a 1990 graduate of Harvard Law School. He was admitted to both the Texas and the Kentucky State Bar Associations. Woody was a self-employed attorney in Bardstown since 1994 and was formerly employed by Wyatt, Tarrant and Combs in Louisville and Jackson and Walker Law Firm in Dallas, TX. He was on the Board of the Bardstown Foundation for Excellence and attended the Bloomfield Baptist Church.

Survived By: His wife of 15 years: Tina Wright Downs; 2 sons: Parker Glenn Downs and Jackson Merritt Downs, both at home; 1 daughter: Lila Grace Downs at home; his parents: Dennis and Charmaine Hahn Downs of Bardstown; and 2 brothers: Joseph D. “Dee” Downs,II (Julie) of Bardstown and Robert “Bob” Downs (Rebecca) of Crestwood; and several nieces and nephews.
